More than a dairy farm

Our relationship with each cow begins with responsibility. We focus on comfort, nutrition, hygiene, health monitoring and gentle human interaction.

Why Gir cows

India’s distinctive dairy breed

Gir cattle originated in Gujarat and remain known for their dairy ability, fertility, heat tolerance and adaptability to Indian conditions.

Their rounded forehead, long pendulous ears and red-to-speckled coat create a distinctive appearance. At GAUMAA Farms, we combine respect for this native breed with modern hygiene and welfare systems.

“Pure dairy begins with healthy animals, honest farming and patient care.”

Unique characteristics

What makes Gir cows special

We celebrate the natural strengths and recognisable features of this indigenous breed without making exaggerated health promises.

Native Heritage

The breed takes its name from the Gir region of Gujarat and forms part of India’s valuable indigenous cattle heritage.

Climate Adaptability

Gir cattle can adapt well to warm climatic conditions when farmers provide proper nutrition, shelter and veterinary care.

Distinctive Form

A broad domed forehead, long ears, curved horns and red or speckled coat make the breed easy to recognise.

Gentle Handling

Calm routines, familiar caretakers and low-stress handling help maintain a safer, more comfortable farm environment.

Our care promise

Every cow deserves dignity

Our welfare approach covers the complete life cycle. We do not treat animals as production units; we treat them as living members of the farm.

01

Calf-first philosophy

Calves receive appropriate maternal care and nutrition before commercial use of milk.

02

Clean living environment

Daily cleaning, dry bedding, ventilation and safe movement areas support animal comfort.

03

Preventive health care

We follow vaccination, deworming, hoof care and veterinary monitoring schedules.

04

Responsible lifetime care

We aim to care for male, female, young and ageing animals with equal respect.
